Schladming Night Slalom

At lunch today my friend Dave reminded me that tonight was a night world cup race under the lights in Schladming. If you haven’t heard of this race, it is a doozy, approximately 50,000 fans show up to a town about a 3rd of the size of Collingwood to watch a night race under lights, Austria’s version of Monday night football. This is something that you really need to see.

A picture (video in this case) is worth a thousand words, I can’t get over how loud it is, the energy, and passion for skiing in Schladming is incredible.
Tonight and old friend of mine, Julian, was 5th at Schladming. For him this was probably the best night of his life, realizing that he is one of the best in the world on arguably the biggest stage in the world for slalom. Congrats Julian, it’s great to see you making dreams come true.

P.S. A world cup podium for Volkl!
