What happens if you build a distinctive jump obstacle in the perfect setting and invite the best athletes, photographers and film crews from all over the world??
The Suzuki NINE QUEENS is a unique freeski event for girls only. Nine of the world’s best female freeskiers ride a distinctive jump feature, The Chateau, in Austria’s great skiing region of Serfaus Fiss Ladis to conquer the free-skiing crown. Marker Volkl team rider, Virginie Faivre hosted the event and MVD team riders Emma Dahlstrom and Ashley Battersby were invited to attend.
The contest day of the first ever NINE QUEENS event was truly one for the history books of free-skiing when Maria Bagge (wearing Rip Curl Rubix Jacket) won the big air contest in front of Canadian, Kaya Turski – both landing the first EVER switch 1080s in women’s free-skiing!!! Emma placed 3rd and Ashley 6th in competition.
